The Immersion:  A Soul Arts Summer Retreat, Catskill Mountains 2020
July 6 – July 18, 2020

Downtown performing arts school Soul Arts Academy is seeking charismatic, driven and responsible faculty for our Summer Arts Retreat in Catskills Mountains 2019. Program features instruction in dance (ballet, modern, contemporary, broadway jazz, hip hop), drama, spoken word, singing and outdoor activities.

We are currently accepting applications for:

Faculty
Experienced teachers of young learners need only apply

Dance Teacher Apprentice
Pay: Stipend
Apprentices will work closely with assigned staff teachers to assist classes in a variety of dance disciplines, attend workshops in early dance pedagogy by invited specialists and participate in performances/workshops by visiting artists. Teaching Apprentices will receive instruction in preK-6 creative movement pedagogy as well as individual classroom instruction under the tutelage of assigned teacher mentors and the academy’s founder and creative director. In addition, apprentices will be given several guided opportunities to teach classes and receive constructive feedback from their teacher mentors. There is no apprenticeship fee. Successful candidates will be expected to perform camp duties. Position open to dance and education students; current dance teachers seeking employment at Soul Arts Academy are also encouraged to apply. Summer Arts Intern
Pay: Stipend
Interns will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with some of New York’s finest performer-educators, gain an intimate, firsthand experience of running a downtown dance studio as well as participate in performances by visiting artists. Duties include assisting staff in managing and leading children, assisting in camp activities/games, light administrative and manpower duties, marketing, publicity, and managing social media. Applicants applying MUST be available for a minimum of 3 Sessions – (candidates applying for all sessions will be considered first) When applying, please indicate which Sessions you are available for.

Applicants to either position(s) must:
Love working with students ages 10-16
Be resourceful, creative, open-minded and able to work in an unpredictable fast-paced environment
Have a passion for the performing arts, arts management or arts education
Be able to fully commit to the respective Session(s) required
